My understanding was that there are 2 forks happening for Monero in near future, the current development team is doing a fork but staying with the same algorithm, not sure what is actually changing. And outside group forking to new coin MoneroV with CryptoNightV7 algorithm and 10x supply. So you can think about XMR like BTC or LTC and XMV like BCH, BTG or LCC. They haven’t affected the network hash rate of Electroneum yet, probably since the price is so low so I guess they’re working on Monero. With no garage or usable loft, my cellar is piled high with stuff.

  • You cannot just connect hundreds of ASIC chips to that memory because couple chips would consume the available bandwith.
  • In the GPU front CN Heavy for AMD Cards payout have dropped considerably, I think it had a lot to do with NiceHash introducing CN-H on their platform and increasing network hashrate.
  • So, I shall keep going and see what happens when it gets cold.
  • Pick a sum that I’m prepared to lose, and invest it.

Also seems to help a bit with Equihash 2-3% and should help with various versions of CryptoNote but that’s not really efficient with nVidia cards anyway so I have not tried. But with Equihash returns going down with several ASICs coming online it looks like I will switch to ETH on Tis for now. I did try Equihash 144,5 for a while and BTG an while i like some of their ideas I am not 100% convinced. Switched fan speed for GPUs from auto to manual and set it to 91%, no more slowdowns. This email is to inform you that we will provide compensation for the orders of our B3 miners that were purchased earlier at a higher price than the present batch. I have 12 of $100 coupons as well but you can only use 1 per miner so it worked out cheaper for me to buy $420 rather than use my own.

So, I shall keep going and see what happens when it gets cold. It is quite addictive (especially when it’s profitable), to watch the daily earnings increase as you add more miners. I understand it’s the same thing you do with BIOS mods for AMD cards just done with software – modify VRAM timings. Some of my AMD cards have seen similar increase going from 22MH/s to 30+MH/s.

When trading forex you might want to hold fire for a bit if there is upcoming news that could impact currency markets – such as the announcement of a government budget or economic impact assessments being released. I am not an expert but I do not see how it could be firmware issue. I think it’s either bad chips or bad power supply, maybe error in supply chain and lower binned chips/hashing boards meant for T17 40TH/s ended up in S17. Last time I spent any crypto I own was about a year ago when I sold couple of LTC when they were $180 to cover electricity costs. Mining wise, my rigs are still running as heaters, although I’ve started turning some of them off now that the weather is getting warmer. Still HODLing though and I will be staking instead of mining through the warmer months.

There is space for 10 miners but at the moment only 5 in there. It’s the same hashrate/power consumption as 6 RX 570 or GTX1070 cards so not big deal. It’s considerably cheaper and probably easier to deploy in large numbers but only shipping second half of July and you cannot use them for anything else like you can with GPU’s and Eth could fork to make them unusable. Probably a bit too loud for home deployment as well.

  • I’m crypto trading at the moment but wondered if I could put something I have laying around to use…
  • Looks like great opportunities for both LTC and TPay bringing crypto/blockchain together with traditional banking.
  • It’s only meant to be used as Ethernet to Wireless router otr acces point so getting it to work the other way round id a bit fidly but possible.
  • Sounds similar to my house (or as I call it, ‘the money pit’) — Built from stone, circa 1875.

The instant payment system he mentions sounds a lot like Graft so it’ll be interesting to see which one wins. CPU mining on some dual Xeon E5 servers I built, the total hashrate is around 2000 H/s. I chose CPU mining as these servers could be repurposed if I decided to stop mining in future whereas high-end GPUs have no use to me.

You’re not being negative, but honest, and that’s what counts. With that in mind, I think I shall shy away from mining rigs. I did move my LTC out from my original wallet after the fork too. You will also have to pay shipping for the stuff from Bitmain and VAT when it arrives.

Market Cap

There have already been numerous stories of houses sold privately using cryptocurrencies and a number of car dealerships have started taking cryptocurrency payments. The Dot Com bubble that it’s been likened to had quite a few winners amongst the losers and i’m sure crypto will be the same. From the ~1600 current coins there currently are will be maybe ~100 that will go on and do something interesting and no one really has an idea which and only time will tell…. I’ve just taken a few quick photos of my cellar setup. I decided not to sell the two new L3+ miners that arrived recently so I’m using them here. There’s 4 L3+ miners on the top two shelves and a D3 on the bottom.

However, I think PoS is a great concept too, in which investors merely need to hold (or “hodl”) new coins in their wallets to take part in the ‘minting’ process and thus earn their share of the rewards. I think ultimately, a hybrid mix of PoW and PoS are the way forward. The two Gigabyte cards have been fed cold air from the loft.

I’ve considered turning things off at times, but that’s because crypto is low at the moment. The amount of coins you are getting are the same or maybe a touch higher as people bow out…. So the true value of the coin will only be visible when it starts trading properly with deposits and withdrawals https://coinbreakingnews.info/ from exchanges available, it’s gone down to $5 now but If it’s above $2 I am still in profit. I think I might have sold mine just in time then, I bought it for £390 start of November, used for 3.5 months, it earned well and have paid for itself, then sold it recently for £645 on ebay auction.

My has Delta 3A intake fan and Yate Loon 2.3A exhaust, his has Nidec 1.65A both ends. All running about 4500rpm without ducting and near 6k rpm with the ducting. The fans have different pitch, mine is easier on the ear without ducting but with the ducting his are quieter. Sounds similar to my house (or as I call it, ‘the money pit’) — Built from stone, circa 1875.

The prices should go down if they ramp up production. For now they have mostly been used for development/prototyping in relatively small numbers.. At the moment single card can earn $40-50/ day with small selection of algorithms so not too bad for $4000 board if it pays back in less than 6 months. As more of them come online profitability will come down but as more algorithms are developed for them the hashing power will spread over them bringing profitability somewhat back up.

I might try it a some point myself on one of my L3+’s. I made a ‘box’ as well although not fully finished yet, needs a bit of noise insulation on the exhaust side and also around air supplying fan. Noise gone down from 85dB to 50 with external fan off and 60-65dB with fan on.

So its generally a bit of a faff but not too hard once you have accounts setup up with exchanges and have your wallets etc in place. I have 1x L3+ running on the loft but that’s about it, 1st there is not enough power going up there even if I have 2 ethernet cables going to the loft so would need new power cables. Combined with a few GPU rigs I have, the house is the warmest it’s ever been for this time of year. Alternatively, if you’re willing to take the ROI risk, you could buy a few S9s yourself and rent them out. When they’ve eventually paid for which web browser consumes the least amount of memory themselves, hopefully in around 12 months or less, all the profit is yours. Unfortunately I can’t get a better deal as its technically one building with one incoming meter. Its then split off to the various tenants on our own meters.

Will just concentrate in putting more money in electricity and run L3+s 24/7 instead of just nights and build up a bit more LTC before upcoming halving. Only a couple of listings on e-bay for S17 and no complete listings so hard to judge resale value. It cost me about £2010 including duties so considering ebay and Paypal fees + postage it would probably need to be at least £2.5k to make it worth while selling it. Might put it on ebay for £2.7-3k with best offer and see what happens.

I believe they have European support and repair centres for hardware issues if not so it shouldn’t be necessary to return the unit to China at least. Need to modify the enclosure to have it running 24/7 and do not have much time so probably will not get much more testing done before weekend. Received S17 Pro yesterday afternoon but did not have any time for testing. I haven’t been following mining hardware developments to be honest, so I wasn’t sure what that was. I remember hearing about there being a new ‘S’ miner in the works a while ago, so I guess this is it. But now Norway has decided that data centres that also mine crypto currencies will no longer be eligble to the lower tax.
